Expedition Studios Digital

Base Camp Studios was thrilled to work with Expedition Studios, a film production company founded by renowned adventure photographers and filmmakers Taylor Rees and Renan Ozturk, to design and develop their website and online presence. With a focus on showcasing their stunning commercial, documentary, and passion projects from around the world, the new site needed to be dynamic, visually captivating, and user-friendly.

To begin the process, Base Camp Studios worked closely with Taylor and Renan to gain a deep understanding of the needs and requirements of the site, as well as to learn more about their vision for how the site could best represent Expedition Studios. This collaborative discovery phase allowed us to develop a comprehensive understanding of the company's unique voice and mission, as well as the specific functionality and content that would be required on the new site.

Using this information, we began producing a series of static wireframes that laid out the basic structure and design of the site. These wireframes were developed iteratively, with regular feedback and input from the Expedition Studios team, to ensure that they accurately reflected the company's goals and vision for the new site.

Once the wireframes were approved, we moved on to the development phase, building out the site's functionality, designing custom graphics and visual elements, and creating a multi-media, video-focused platform that could showcase the company's amazing work.

One of the key challenges we faced was ensuring that the site could support the high-quality video content that was so central to Expedition Studios' work, while also maintaining fast load times and a seamless user experience. To address this, we worked closely with the team to create short, ultra-small file size reels for each project and custom coded a method to embed them onto the site without compromising loading speeds or visual quality.

The final site is a stunning showcase of Expedition Studios' work, with a clean, modern design that allows their incredible imagery and videos to take center stage. Each project has its own page with a detailed description, a series of high-resolution imagery, and an embedded final film that allows users to fully immerse themselves in each story. Thanks to the collaborative and iterative design process, the site is a true reflection of Expedition Studios' unique voice and mission, and provides a compelling and engaging platform for their work to be showcased to the world.
